Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Thanford LLC ("Thanford", "we", "us", or "our") is a California limited liability company. We operate the Glyphew VR browser ("the App") distributed through the Meta Horizon Store.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It applies only to data processed by Thanford. Third-party services used within the App (Meta, Google Chromium, Mozilla Firefox Sync) are governed by their own privacy policies.
Data controller: Thanford LLC

2. What we collect
2a. When telemetry is disabled (default)
Telemetry is off by default. When telemetry is disabled, Thanford collects no data whatsoever from you. Nothing is transmitted to Thanford's servers.
2b. When telemetry is enabled (opt-in)
If you voluntarily enable telemetry in Settings › Privacy, Thanford may collect the following limited diagnostic information:
| Data type | Purpose | Personal? |
|---|---|---|
| Crash reports (stack trace, error context) | Diagnose and fix bugs | No |
| App version | Correlate crashes to releases | No |
| Device model (e.g. "Quest 3") | Reproduce device-specific bugs | No |
| Session duration (aggregate) | Understand usage patterns | No |
We do not collect:
- Browsing history or URLs you visit
- Search queries
- Passwords, form data, or payment information
- Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- Your location
- Voice data
- Any data about the web content you view
You may enable or disable telemetry at any time in Settings › Privacy. Disabling takes effect immediately; no further data is transmitted.
3. On-device data
Combo gesture paths, user preferences, and custom bookmarks are stored locally in Android SharedPreferences on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the Export feature — in which case, you control the resulting file and where it goes.
4. Third-party services
4a. Meta Platform — distribution and payment
The App is distributed through the Meta Horizon Store. When you purchase or download Glyphew, Meta collects and processes transaction and account data under its own policies. Thanford receives only fulfillment signals and does not receive your payment details or Meta account data. See: Meta Privacy Policy
4b. Google Chromium — browser engine
The App uses the Chromium browser engine to render web content. Thanford does not instrument or intercept Chromium's network activity beyond what is necessary to run the browser. Chromium may communicate with Google services per Google's policies. See: Google Privacy Policy
Favicon fetch: The Glyphew homepage shows site favicons. These are
fetched from https://www.google.com/s2/favicons. When Glyphew loads a
favicon, the domain of the bookmarked site is sent to Google. Google's privacy
policy governs that request.
4c. Mozilla Firefox Sync — optional, user-initiated
If you choose to enable Firefox Sync in Settings, your bookmarks, history, and settings are synced via Mozilla's servers under Mozilla's own Privacy Notice. Thanford does not access, store, or process any Firefox Sync data. This feature is entirely opt-in. See: Mozilla Privacy Notice
5. Browsing data
Your browsing activity — cookies, history, cached content — is governed by the Chromium browser engine embedded in Glyphew, not by Thanford. Thanford does not collect or access this data.
6. Data retention
Crash reports collected when telemetry is enabled are retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Aggregate usage statistics may be retained in anonymized form for up to 12 months.
7. Your rights
Regardless of your location, you may opt out of telemetry at any time via Settings › Privacy. This is your primary privacy control. To request deletion of any crash report data, email thanfordhq@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request."
California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information. Contact us at thanfordhq@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
EEA / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): Where applicable, the legal basis for telemetry processing is your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact thanfordhq@gmail.com.
8. Children's privacy
Glyphew is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us at thanfordhq@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at https://thanford.com/privacy.html and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated within the App. Continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
